The cause of fibroids is not yet determined clearly. Estrogen is said to stimulate fibroid formation in the body. During pregnancy time or while taking in contraceptive pills the fibroids tend to grow more in size. Certain risk factor contribute to the formation of fibroids they are-

• Obesity or overweight

• Including a lot of red meat in your diet

• Ethnic background (three times more common in black women compared to white women)

• Family history also plays an important role
