• Everyone who has been bitten by a tick should be watched closely for at least 30 days.

• Antibiotics are the primary treatment for Lyme disease, depends upon the patient and the stage of the disease. The antibiotics of choice are doxycycline (in adults), amoxicillin (in children), erythromycin (for pregnant women) and ceftriaxone, with treatment lasting 14 to 21 days.

• Medicine like nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (aspirin or ibuprofen) reduces swelling and pain can ease arthritis associated with late-stage Lyme disease.
