The only way and the one to diagnose skin cancer is performing biopsy. It is of following types:

• Shave Biopsy - in this a thin sharp blade is used to shave off abnormal growth present on suspicious area. It is the most common type used.

• Incisional biospy - in this scalpel is used to remove the part of lesion. It is used when the suspicious area is large.

• Excisional Biopsy - in this scalpel is used to remove entire lesion along the margin of healty tissue and is closed with stitches.

• Punch biopsy - in this a sharp hollow tool which look like cookie cutter is used to remove a sample of tissue from abnormal area.

• Fine needle aspiration - it is done to obtain samples from subcutaneous area below the skin and is a rare method
