Metmorfin tab is safe for long term use
Question (Posted on :  22 Jan 2009 )

my daughter has been diagnosed with pcos. she is 23 yrs.old and slightly overweight. She was advised long term use of metmorfin. Is it safe to take it for more than 1 year?
Doctor's Response (Posted on : 22 Jan 2009 )

Metformin is given to control insulin resistance in patients with PCOS. It is ok to take the medicine for a long duration but you need to watch for any stomach upsets or vomiting. Also during the treatment period make a second visit to the doctor to get an examination to see if the PCOS has been treated or not.
