Question (Posted on :  18 Dec 2008 )

Hi,I have been on Lonazep .5mg for around 3 months.I had minor depression/mood swings, confusion, sleepiness while on this drug for anxiety? Are these side effects of the drug? Are these side effects long term continuing even after i stop taking this drug? -v.imp I have reduced my intake to .25mg everyday and i feel much better,do you suggest that i further reduce it to .125 mg and then discontinue as i feel much quite quite normal after reducing the drug intake?
Doctor's Response (Posted on : 18 Dec 2008 )

Clonazepam (Lonazep) is known the cause the side effects you mentioned such as drowsiness, confusion etc., The side effects continue only till the drug is used. You are following the right approach by tapering the dose and not stopping it immediately, that way you will avoid developing withdrawl symptoms.
