Question (Posted on :  02 Oct 2008 )

My father 55 years is a diabetic for the past 15 years. Three months back he had excessive sweating which lasted for five minutes. He was tired on that day but subsequently he was fine. A master health check up was done for him two days ago. The doctor tells me that my father has had an old heart attack. Is it possible to have an attack without ones knowledge?
Doctor's Response (Posted on : 02 Oct 2008 )

Diabetics and older people can have atypical symptoms and sometimes they may not have any symptoms. The sweating could have been the only symptom that your father had during his heart attack. He is lucky that he did not have any complications during the heart attack. It is better if your father has a complete cardiac evaluation. He is also better advised to watch out for similar episodes of sweating in the future and seek medical help immediately.
