Question (Posted on :  23 Oct 2008 )

I am 39 years old male. I have been using Minoxidil 2% lotion for hair loss for a month now as per the Doctor's advice. Now, I am away at worksite and seeking advice on the following queries: 1. In my worksite, the climatic condition is very hot. Lot of sweating occurs on my scalp during the morning jog and also due to high day time temperature . Will it affect the use of Minoxidil and what is the best way to attain the maximum benifit of Minoxidil usage? 2. Secondly, Earlier I used to massage oil into my scalp twice a week and wash it with Anti Dandruff shampoos. Can I continue doing it while using Minoxidil? I feel some kind of uneasiness if I do not have an oil bath. Please clarify my doubts.
Doctor's Response (Posted on : 23 Oct 2008 )

You can use the 5% minoxidil solution twice a day to optimise hair growth. there are preparations containing retinoids which enhance the penetration of minoxidil. We can't do much about the climatic conditions so let us not talk about them. Yes you can apply oil BEFORE washing your hair but oil should not be applied after washing - only minoxidil should be applied to the scalp.
