Question (Posted on :  23 Oct 2008 )

I am taking Losar-H for hypertension. I am able to masturabate, but now sex is becoming difficult. Moreover, will this drug reduce Libido? If libido is less due to tiredness (I get just two hours to relax per day) Should I test for Diabetes?
Doctor's Response (Posted on : 23 Oct 2008 )

I would like to have more details regarding your question whether you should check for diabetes, also please answer the following questions briefly:1. is there a family history of diabetes?2. your age?3. are you overweight?4. would it be possible to find out from your parents what was your birthweight, did your mother have diabetes during pregnancy? It is obvious that the diuretic in your BP pill is the cause of difficulty in erection, i.e the H portion of losacor, is hydrochlorthiazide is notorious for causing erectile dysfunction. The best step would be to go back to your doc and ask for a review of the pill, maybe he could use another BP lowering agent, indapamide is a good suggestion, since its also a diruetic but does not have the unwanted side effect of erectile dysfunction.Wait a minute, before you loose your self esteem, let me reassure you that once the opffensive drug is withdrawn your sexual life will go back to normal; and remember NOT ALL PATEINTS HAVE THESE SIDE EFFECTS, some have, unfortunately it has been you.
