Question (Posted on :  22 Oct 2008 )

My wife, Prerna concieved a son in the March 1997. After that she opted for oral contraception for 3 years. However since 2000 we are trying to have our second child but have failed. A recent HSG study has revealed that her B/L FALLOPIAN TUBES ARE BLOCKED. The doctor who conducted HSG said that there are almost NIL chances of conception. One of the consultants has suggested us to go for the Laproscopic Surgery.Doctor, please guide us as to what course of action do we need to take and whether Laproscopic Surgery will help in conception? We dont want to go for a test tube baby.
Doctor's Response (Posted on : 22 Oct 2008 )

HSG finding of bilateral tubal block has to reconfirmed by Laproscopy. Sometimes, to our surprise, we do find open tubes at laproscopy vice versa. So please go ahead with laproscopy let the doctor decide after he/ she confirms the findings- if the tubes are also diseased blocked , then tubal surgery will not help. All the best
