Invitro Fertilization (IVF) is an assisted reproduction technique which means that fertilization is done in a test tube. Here is the outline of the procedure : Induce ovulation by administration of fertility drugs Active monitoring of the menstural cycle Harvesting or collection of eggs Fertilization by mixing eggs and sperm together outside the woman's body in a culture dish or test-tube. The resulting embryos are left to grow The most suitable 2-3 embryos are then transferred into the woman's womb. Any remaining embryos of good quality may then be frozen for future use. IVF is a painful and expensive procedure and has 30-40% chances of success.
